Introducing the Board of Trustees

The current Board took office in April 2007 for a 3 year term. Moira Clews (teacher representative), Shelley Power and Clive Harnett have continued their trusteeship from the previous board along with principal Bruce Cunningham. Rhonwen Dewaris an elected parent representative and Dave O'Brien and Graeme Free have been co-opted onto the board after two representatives resigned.

General Information
The role of the Board is in the governance of the school, ensuring that our students have an environment and a management framework in place that will enable quality delivery of education. We are not directly involved with the day to day running of the school.

The Board meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm. Meetings are held in the boardroom adjoining the Principal's office and are open to the public. We also welcome communication from the school community by phone, mail or email. Please direct your correspondence through Bruce Cunningham or Julie in the school office.

Shelley Power – Board Chair
Shelley has been a member of the BOT since 2003. She is responsible for the coordination and running of board meetings and handles all board correspondence. Shelley meets weekly with Bruce Cunningham to keep well informed on all school activities.

Moira Clews – Teacher Representative
Moira is AP, Senior Syndicate Leader and a member of the school Senior Management team. She has taught at Belmont Primary for 12 years, has been on the Board for 12 years and currently has a Year 6 class.

 

Clive Harknett - Finance
Clive was seconded onto the BOT in 2005 to take charge of the finance portfolio. He takes a very active role in the budgeting and planning for the school to ensure we live within our means. Clive currently has one children at Belmont Primary in Year 5.

 Rhonwen Dewar - Personnel
Rhonwen has one child at Belmont in Year 6. While new to the role of board member she has ample experience in the world of education, as a trained primary teacher and English as a foreign language teacher. Rhonwen will be involved in all teacher appointments and will ensure the board carries out all its responsibilities as a good employer.

Dave O'Brien-Policy
Dave has two children at Belmont Primary one in Year 6, the other Year 4. Dave overseas all policies which are reviewed regularly.

Graeme Free-Property
Graeme has two children at school, in Year 4 and Year 2. Property is an essential portfolio as the school environment is very important to the teachers and children.

The BOT is ably supported by Julie Milham, our secretary.
