BELMONT PRIMARY SCHOOL CHARTER

MISSION STATEMENT

OUR BEST ALWAYS

THE SCHOOL

Belmont Primary School is focused on providing a wide range of opportunities designed to maximise achievement and excellence. We believe that learning and teaching must be stimulating and relevant to today’s world. We believe a safe and positive environment supports teaching and learning.

Our staff are open in their communication and professional in their approach. We are committed to equipping students with the key competencies and values to achieve and become life long learners.

Belmont Primary School values learning, co-operation, effort, responsibility, respect and manaakitanga.

Belmont Primary School is situated on the North Shore Peninsula, and was established in 1912, and is presently designated as a Decile 9 contributing school.

In 2005 our starting roll was 261. The children come from a wide socio-economic and ethnic base. The majority of the children are NZ European (60%), Maori 8% followed by other European (12%) and Asian (8.8%). The school is multi–cultural with over 22 different countries represented. The majority of our children have had pre-school experience and this generally means they arrive at school confident and well prepared for learning.

We have spacious grounds and attractive buildings including a large hall, new library and ICT suite, swimming pool, specialist art and music rooms and a kiln. The administration block and staffroom have just been upgraded.

Belmont Primary is well resourced, has quality staff, an excellent Board and PTA and is well supported by the wider community.
