Assemblies: Parents are invited to attend our Formal Assemblies. These are held fortnightly. Our assemblies recognise achievement, promote our values and allow children to perform.

Homework: Regular homework is set on the following basis. Juniors (Years 1 and 2) up to 20 minutes a night, Middle School (Years 3 and 4) and Senior School (Years 5 and 6) up to 40 minutes. It is important that reading,  basic fact and spelling activities are non-stressful.

Library/Computer Suite: All classes have timetabled sessions for the Library and Computer Suite. The Library is open during lunchtimes. All library books need to travel to and from school in a library bag. These are available from the school office.

Lunches: Children should bring morning tea and lunch to school every day.

School Hours: We encourage children not to come to school before 8.30 unless they have a practice or commitment. Children need to prepare for their school day and we suggest they be here by 8.45.This enables children to use the Road Patrols at the Lake Road traffic lights.  The children will be dismissed at 3.00 p.m. regardless of weather conditions.

Absences: If your child is going to be absent please contact the school office before 9.00. This is an important safety check.

School Newsletter:
This important link between home and school is sent home fortnightly (even-numbered weeks of each term) on Thursdays.

Stationery:
This can be purchased from the school office before 9 o’clock each day.

Sunhats: All children must wear a school sun hat when outside during the daylight saving season.

Uniforms:
All children are required to wear our uniform. All uniforms are available from the school office. We also have compulsory PE uniform for Y3-6 children

Music lessons: After school at Belmont School are provided by specialist music teachers from the Music Education Centre Phone 0800 89 39 39. For further details http://www.musiceducation.co.nz

Dental Nurse: The dental therapist treats all children and pre-schoolers from 2 ½ years. Treatment is given when necessary and with prior consent. We share our Dental Therapist with neighbouring schools. The telephone number is 445-6664. The dental clinic is based at Belmont Intermediate School and the school also receives regular visits from the Mobile Clinic where all children's teeth are assessed on site and if any further dental treatment is required an appointment at BIS is required.

Lunch orders: Children should bring morning tea and lunch to school every day.  Sushi can be ordered on Wednesday morning to be delivered on Thursday. We order from Pita Pit on Fridays only.

Parking: We have two entrances to Belmont Primary - a pedestrian entrance at the  Rose Centre and a pedestrian/vehicular entrance at Harrison Avenue. To ensure safety please:

  • Drive slowly and with care.
  • Do not call children across the road.
  • Make sure children enter and exit vehicles from the curb side.
  • Do not use the school driveway between 8.30 and 9.00 and 2.45 and 3.15.
