Belmont Primary had four teams in the Devonport Fun Ferns competition this year. The players had a great season with 12 weeks of netball including a World Champs Day where each team dressed up and played as one of 16 teams in the 2011 Netball World Champs. The future of Belmont Primary netball looks very promising with so many enthusiastic junior players. The teams are to be congratulated for outstanding team work and commitment to learning new skills. Congratulations also to the Belmont Rubies for winning their grade. Special thanks to the coaches and parents who worked with the teams and well done to all the players!
Belmont 1 Belmont 1 had a fantastic season this year! Everybody had lots of fun, winning most of our games and running around like crazy trying to get the ball. At the end of our season we won our last game. We got up early every Friday morning for our practices. The team members were: Annabel Read, Ella Saxby, Brooke Cancare, Iona Anderson, Sabrina Strydom, Nelly Farmiloe, Mitchel Ngadela, Paris Fale, Jessica Christie, and Caitlin Daniel. YAY!!!!
Belmont Blaze (Team 2) Belmont Blaze had an amazing season. In the beginning we did not win much but after we won our first game we had more confidence and we started to win more. We had some tough games and won some and lost some but in the end we had fun which is one of our team values. We have three values and they are fun, fit and fair. We’d like to say thank you to Jennie, Bridgette and Elise. By Reeneke
Belmont 3 Belmont 3 netball team had a fantastic season and worked really well together as a team, thanks to our awesome coach Rochelle Cooper. We luckily came second in our grade and thrashed most of the teams. Our last game we won 28-8. Everyone worked really hard as team members and turned up for all practices. Go BELMONT 3!! By Giorgia and Montana.
Belmont 4 Belmont 4 netball team had a great season and we had loads of fun. We had lots of tough opponents like Devonport and Birkenhead but we lost against Devonport 15-2 but won against Birkenhead 11-2. We came 2nd overall but we still show good sportsmanship for the winning team and all the others. We’ve held our breath hoping that we’ll do really well. We’ve come second but who says we can’t thrash them next year! Go BELMONT 4!!
